What Resources Should I Use?

I am looking to find some general information on a religion or philosophy?

A great place to begin might be our reference databases in the Articles and Databases Tab of this guide.  Here, databases such as Credo Reference or The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy do excellent jobs briefly summing up the main beliefs and characteristics of a number of religion and philosophies.

I am looking to do some in depth research on a religion or philosophy?

Oftentimes books are the main source which you will turn to conduct research on a particular religion or philosophical system.  Books do a great job of delving deeply in a topic and can provide a great deal of depth and understanding.  As well, you can turn to the primary texts of a philosophy or religion through the sacred or profound books upon which these schools of thought are based.  Search through the various tabs of this guide to find various featured books in the Morton College Library.  As well, although you can find many of these books in the library, also try searching the Helpful Websites Tab of this guide to find links to e-book versions of the sacred and profound texts of a variety of philosophies and religions.  Finally, for current research and debates on religious and philosophical topics, try databases such as Academic Search Complete on the Articles and Databases Tab of this guide.
