What Resources Should I Use?

I am looking to find resources for a research paper on music performance or music history. . .

There are a variety of places in which you can go to research a both music performance and history.  This reasearch guide will direct you to several books, DVDs, and websites to help you start your search.  To find scholarly research articles on a topic, you may wish to consult some of the EBSCO databases under the "Articles and Databases" tab.  Amongst these databases, Oxford-Grove Music Online is a fine place to start for music history and performers.

Another great place would be our Online Library Catalog, under the "Books and Multi-Media" tab of this guide.  Here you can find books by either author, title, or subject/keyword.  We also have a good selection of printed scores in our collection.  You can see a number of our newest books displayed under the "Books and Multi-Media" tab.

I am looking for sheet music or other resources to help me practice or perform with. . .

We have a great selection of classical pieces available to check out on the second floor of the library. You can come in and browse firsthand or search via our online catalog. To do that select "advanced search" and halfway down the page you can choose to narrow your search down by selecting the "Music Score" option.

Included on this research guide under the "Helpful Website" tab in the "Online Collections" section of the page are some great online resources to help you get started playing music.
