What sources should I use?

I am looking to find resources for a research paper on a law enforcement topic or issue...

There are a variety of places in which you can go to research a law enforcement topic or issue. To find scholarly research articles on a topic, you may wish to consult some of the EBSCO databases under the "Articles and Databases" tab. Amongst these databases, Lexis -Nexis Legal Research and the U.S. Government Online are great places to begin finding a wide variety of articles on a number of topics/issues.

Another great place would be our Online Library Catalog, under the "Books and Multimedia" tab of this guide. Here you can find books by either author, title, or subject/keyword. Often, books are excellent resources that can delve deeply in a given topic. Lastly, don't forget to check out the books in our Reference section. Although you are unable to check these books out, they are a great source of information.

I am looking to find some information about news and current events in this subject area...

To find current events and news stories check out our Periodical section. Periodicals, such as, Blue Line, can be found there. For a listing of other law enforcement, visit the "Books & Multimedia" page of this guide.

I am looking to find a resource my instructor put on RESERVE...

Please visit the "Reserve" page for a listing of books. If you need more information, please contact the Circulation Desk at ext. 2321.
