What Resources Should I Use?

Literature refers to written works that have been judged by scholars and society to be of a high quality and merit.  To find a book of literature, you may wish to begin searching our catalog located on the "Books and Multi-Media" section of this guide.  Here you can search by author, title, or keyword/subject to find literary works.  As well, on the "Books and Multi-Media" tab you will find featured literary works at the Morton College library that can be checked out and also serve as samples of different works of literature.  Another great place to find older online books would be Project Gutenberg under the "Helpful Websites" tab, where one can download a multitude of literary works for free.

You may wish to begin your search on the "Articles and Databases" tab of this guide where you will find a number of resources.  First you may wish to try Gale's Literary Reference Center that contains a wealth of general information about authors and their works.  Another great place to find information would be Credo Reference which contains a number of literature encyclopedias capable of giving crucial background and insight on a number of literary authors, works, and subjects.  Also check out the Salem Press literature collection that has a number of books on with in-depth looks into literary authors and works.  As well, take a look at the two databases Academic Search Complete and JSTOR where you can find scholarly articles on a variety of literary works, authors and topics.  Finally, don't forget to search the literature works at the Morton College Library by visiting the "Books and Multi-Media" tab of this guide where you will find a large array of titles on literature, authors, and literary topics.
